International Railway Safety Council
The IRSC Council PARIS 2016 presentations and debates will give the opportunity to the participants to share solutions, questioning and perspectives:
– The growing urbanization of our societies and the environmental challenges increase the request of safe and sustainable transport.
– The rail transportation will have to answer these intense flows of passengers and goods generated by the big metropolises.
– Innovative and economically bearable solutions are to be imagined and to be implemented in the future years.
– In the face of the strong expectations of the society, how to guarantee the high level of safety expected from our rail systems in a context characterized by space, capacity and environment constraints?

12th Int. Symposium on Ships’ Information Systems & Maritime Traffic Engineering Conference 2016
“Integrated Ship’s Information Systems” are recognized to be effective means in order to enhance safety and efficiency of the maritime traffic system.
Focus of the conference is on approaches and solutions ensuring the proper provision and utilization of such information. In this context of practical experiences, using new information systems will also be discussed taking into account the role and the needs of humans in an environment with increasing load of information. In addition the conference will also provide up-to-date information about ongoing activities, project results and applications related to information systems and their harmonization within the e-navigation period aged 12 years. Furthermore ISIS is also an excellent platform to present advanced approaches for GREEN NAVIGATION and UNMANNED SHIPS as well as for further future concepts.
Organised by the German Institute of Navigation (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Ortung und Navigation e.V. (DGON)) in cooperation with the Maritime University of Szczecin and the German Aerospace Center (DLR).
13th Int. Symposium on VTS
This event with the theme Sustainable Safe Navigation will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 8 – 12 August 2016 and attended by those involved in the provision, operation, maintenance or use of Vessel Traffic Services.
International Symposium on Advanced Radio Technologies
Sponsored jointly by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, the Institute for Telecommunication Sciences and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Communications Technology Laboratory, ISART’s theme this year will be spectrum forensics, i.e. spectrum measurements that support interference monitoring, investigation, and enforcement.
UNCTAD Nairobi
The 14th session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD 14) will take place in Nairobi, Kenya, from 17 to 22 July 2016.

6th Conference on Maritime Spatial Planning Worldwide
This conference will present experiences, opportunities and challenges of MSP implementation around the world. In particular it will look at how MSP can advance Blue Growth world-wide, its potential to promote climate change solutions, as well as at the role of area-based management regimes in international waters.
The main purpose is to take stock of what is being carried out at international level and identify potential synergies as well as possible contributions from European MSP processes.
Human Factors in Complex Systems
In June 2016 the CIEHF and the University of Nottingham will be running the second Human Factors in Complex Systems conference at Nottingham. It will be held at the same venue as the successful, initial event last year, which honoured the life and work of Professor John R Wilson in the field of ergonomics and human factors.
The conference will bring together academics and practitioners working in diverse areas such as transport, healthcare, manufacturing and defence.
The Science of Time
The future of timekeeping is changing with the development of optical frequency standards and the resulting challenges of distributing time at ever higher precision, with the possibility of timescales based on pulsars, and with the inclusion of higher-order relativistic effects. The definition of the second will likely be changed before the end of this decade, and its realization will increase in accuracy; the definition of the day is no longer obvious.
We propose a symposium setting the stage for future timekeeping standards, infrastructure, and engineering best practices for astronomers and the broader society.
Hosted by the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CFA) in Cambridge, MA (USA). The CFA is a collaboration of the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO) and the Harvard College Observatory (HCO).
