ION’s Pacific PNT Conference is a global cooperative development of Positioning, Navigation and Timing technology and applications where policy and technical leaders from Japan, Singapore, China, South Korea, Australia, the United States and more meet to discuss policy updates, receive program status updates and exchange technical information.
Pacific PNT has been rescheduled to take place in 2022. No dates have been fixed yet.
DRONE ENABLE 2021
The symposium will bring together key stakeholders from industry, academia, government and international organizations in the unmanned aviation sector to exchange best practices, lessons learned, research material and challenges related to the introduction of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and UAS traffic management (UTM).
On the second day of the symposium, panel speakers will be featured from those who comprehensively responded to the problem statement in our revised Request For Information (RFI) regarding the advancement of the ICAO UTM framework.
The symposium will showcase the breadth of existing technologies, ongoing research and development, as well as describe commercial and non-commercial activities in this rapidly evolving sector of the aviation industry.
ION webinar on Mars Rover
The Institute of Navigation will host the Navigation of the Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover from Earth to Jezero Crater webinar on 23 March at 1:30 p.m. EDT. The webinar will be presented by Gerhard Kruizinga, Navigation Engineer, Mars 2020 Navigation Team Chief, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and moderated by Dr. Frank van Diggelen, ION President.

43d COSPAR Scientific Assembly
In light of the advice from the Australian Federal Government and with the current travel bans and need to safeguard our space research community at large, COSPAR 2021 will continue as planned, but with the addition of a major on-line component enabling the Assembly to become a hybrid in-person / virtual event.
The very extensive and indeed excellent program that our Scientific Program Committee assembled for COSPAR-2020 will be carried over to the new dates, along with the line-up of inspirational international and national speakers, the interdisciplinary workshops, as well as immersive social opportunities.
We are developing an approach that guarantees that every Interdisciplinary Speaker, oral presentation, poster presentation and workshop will occur at least once in a time zone friendly to attendees. Presentations will be a mix of in-person presentations from Sydney, live streaming and pre-recorded sessions.
ION PTTI and ITM
The Precise Time and Time Interval Systems and Applications (PTTI) meeting is an annual conference sponsored by ION with a technical program designed to disseminate and coordinate PTTI information at the user level, review present and future PTTI requirements, inform government and industry engineers, technicians, and managers of precise time and frequency technology and its problems, and provide an opportunity for an active exchange of new technology associated with PTTI.
In 2021, PTTI will be co-located with the ION International Technical Meeting, in San Diego, California.
A commercial exhibit and pre-conference tutorials are held in conjunction with the conference.
Tutorials will be offered on January 25; technical sessions will take place January 26-28.
Sealite webinar on the role of IALA
Marine aids to navigation manufacturer Sealite welcomes Francis Zachariae (FZ), Secretary-General of the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) to speak on his organisation in a forthcoming webinar.
Francis will discuss the history of IALA and the organisation’s focus on the development of standards and guidelines to ensure the safety of all mariners. He will also discuss IALA’s strategic move towards becoming an intergovernmental organisation (IGO).

IEEE/ION Position Location and Navigation Symposium
It was announced from HQ in Manassas Virginia, on 23 April that the IEEE/ION PLANS 2020, originally scheduled to take place in April, has been rescheduled and renamed IEEE/ION PLANSx 2020 for later in the year.
The IEEE/ION PLANSx 2020 technical programme will include a collection of the peer-reviewed papers originally scheduled to be presented in April. Delegates from both meetings will have the freedom to flow between ION GNSS+ and IEEE/ION PLANSx technical presentations and attend the ION GNSS+ commercial exhibit.
ION GNSS+ 2020
The ION has announced that the annual ION GNSS+ 2020 conference will now be held entirely virtual. This decision was made after careful consideration and in light of COVID-19 and the domestic and international travel restrictions that make it impossible for many speakers and participants to participate in person.
ION GNSS+ 2020 VIRTUAL will be held over the original dates, September 21-25, in Central Daylight Time and will live stream the plenary and all panel keynote sessions, including the Civil GPS Service Committee meeting, through the virtual web platform. These sessions will also be recorded and uploaded for viewing at a later time. Interactive question and answer will take place virtually.

Abstracts (c.250 words) for oral presentations should include a title, and the names, affiliations and email addresses of all authors. Deadline for submission of abstracts: Monday 3rd February 2020. The session convenors will communicate the RGS response as soon as informed by the organisers after the 14th February session proposal deadline. `Deadline for reduced rate (‘early-bird’) registrations: 12th June 2020.

2020 VTS ENAV Symposium
The 2020 VTS-ENAV Symposium, themed Enhanced Maritime Safety and Efficiency by Connectivity, will be held 25 to 29 May 2020 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The Symposium Steering Committee invites interested parties to submit abstracts of proposed presentations for the VTS-ENAV Symposium, on any of the topics listed below, or on any other topic considered to be in alignment with the theme of the Symposium.
