Position, Location and Navigation Symposium (PLANS) [3] is a biennial technical conference that occurs in the spring of odd numbered years.
Its mission is to provide an international forum to share the latest advances in navigation technology. PLANS is jointly sponsored by the IEEE Aerospace and Electronics Systems Society (AESS) and The Institute of Navigation (ION), the world’s premier non-profit professional society advancing the art and science of positioning, navigation, and timing
(PNT).
PLANS is a four-day conference with the first day hosting tutorials and three days dedicated to technical sessions. Tutorials cover a range of navigation subjects from core fundamentals to in-depth classes on the latest technologies, serving both newcomers and seasoned professionals.
Twenty-four half-day technical sessions are offered over three days, with four sessions running simultaneously each morning and afternoon.
Topics include Inertial Sensing and Technology, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), Integrated, Collaborative, and Opportunistic Navigation, and Applications to Automated, Semi-Autonomous, and Fully-Autonomous Systems. Technical papers from PLANS are peer reviewed and published in IEEE Xplore following the conference.
In parallel with the sessions, PLANS hosts a commercial exhibit during which suppliers and service providers showcase their products, innovations and services.
